Energy Strategy Consultation
We have an opportunity to remove carbon emissions from the energy we use. This opportunity will mean big changes for us all in our day-to-day lives – impacting how we live, work and choose to travel. Your feedback is really important in helping shape a fair, affordable and net zero carbon energy future for all who live and work in Northern Ireland.
The Department for the Economy are holding a series of online ‘Have your say’ events based on the five main principles of the Energy Strategy options consultation.
Thomas Byrne, Director of Energy Strategy, will introduce each principle and you will have a chance to hear about and contribute to all aspects of the Energy Strategy.
Events will be held via Zoom and will last for 90 minutes, with time allocated to ‘have your say’.

Why are you processing my personal information? Personal data is being processed in relation to registration and attendance at online events in relation to the Energy Strategy Consultation. The lawful basis for processing that of public task in accordance with Section 8 of the Data Protection Act 2018 and Article 6(1) (e) of UK GDPR. This is in line with requirements set out in The Energy (NI) Order 2003. As part of this Energy Strategy consultation process we will only collect and hold the minimum amount of personal data necessary in facilitate attendance at these events. This will be recorded by ND Events who will then issue an invitation with a link to the event.
What categories of personal data are you processing? Contact details – consisting of name and email address.
Where do you get my personal data from? You will provide your personal data at the point of registering for the event.
Do you share my personal data with anyone else? The data you provide will be shared with ND Events who will act as the data processer as they are facilitating the events on behalf of the Department for the Economy.
Do you transfer my personal data to other countries? No.
How long do you keep my personal data? Your personal data will be retained by ND Events for one month following the events to enable drafting of summary report of the events. The summary report will not include any identifiable information. Your personal data will be held by the Department for the Economy in line with the Department’s retention and disposal schedule.
What rights do I have?
- You have the right to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed, and access to your personal data
- You are entitled to have personal data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete
- You have a right to have personal data erased, in specific circumstances
- You have the right to ‘block’ or suppress processing of personal data, in specific circumstances
- You have the right to data portability, in specific circumstances
